New project for you...
Some Polished Alloys fork cap covers with the same design as the yolk nut would look very nice ... So while you're bored in your new shed... :D

I think Bez may treat that request with the contempt he feels it deserves BA :roll)

Might have a go for you BA when I get some time and some larger diameter alloy but it would only work for those who haven't raised their bars and you would have to glue them with a bit of silicone. But I'm trying to do the other bits for the time being.

How about some replacement fork top bolts rather than just caps then Bezzer. Quite a bit of work to get internal thread for the damper rod and the fine external threads right plus get the O ring groove just right though!

For those who have raised the bars to the limit, could a cap be made to fit into the hole in the top of the clamps in the same way as the frame plugs fit?

I'm well out of practice with machine thread cutting Pat, in fact I can't even remember a thing about it, gearing, angles etc :( been trying to find a book to relearn it all again but nothing in the local shops, have to send off for one I guess.
Top cap depends on how high you've raised the bars, a lot like me have probably just raised them so they are flush with the top of the tubes, suppose another few mm wouldn't matter and give a little bit of a recess for a plug to fit in but wouldn't be enough for an O ring though, looks like the usual small blob of silicone would have to come into play again.....join the queue.
Looks like I can be kept busy, I did make a couple of spacers to go under my raised bars to fill the gap though just to see, only had 2" bar though, 2.5 will be better then it will be flush with the edge of the bar clamp.

you mean like this Pat?? had a bit of free time today so a prototype....

its only thin so you'd have to silicone it plus the diameter is slightly on the slack side so it doesn't affect the clamping action of the bars.
Image

to get it to fit flush the bars have to be this minimum height above the tube, well within what some people have raised them

When this goes into Production... I'm in the market for a set thank you plus a ring to fill in the gap left by raising the bars in the first place.

:D

That's what I was thinking of Bezzer - nice one. Now we've got to find you "machining threads, one oh one" so that we can get some fork top bolts. As everyone keeps saying, you really do have too much free time 8)

Be a while before I do any as there are a few other things I've got to do first :P . But bear in mind they will only fit if you raise the bars. I'll let you know when they're sorted.

SORRY Bezzer mate... looks like I've started something here now.
Don't think you you're going to be able get out from behind your lathe long enough to have a ride on your bird next summer, still just think of how much you're going to save on wear and tear... lol
