My Honda dealer has heard nothing about a new xx .
It was MCN who gave us those concept pictures last year wasn't it?
They Cant improve on it (apart from painting this years model in undecoat only) so why bother :D

You do realise that if Honda bring out a new model for 2005, our xx 's will become old hat :(
All the time they keep it looking how it is, we have the latest xx :-)

Wow, that would be a shame and a surprise.

It's been a very popular model and despite the fact that it might have been slightly overtaken in pure performance terms, the fact its still selling so well and values holding up so well must be a testament to the fact people love them.

As per the Ronseal ads, it does what it says on the tin!

Well hold on to it, you've got a classic in the making. I'm sure this will be a feature in the milestones of Honda

As BA says, if that's the case our bikes would soon become the classic "Genuine 175MPH Hyper tourer" of the last century :)
I would be suprised if a new model comes out too replace it.
If you want a sport's bike most would buy a Fireblade.
And for the long distances the Pan.
If you want the best of both worlds there's always the VFR :|
The poor old xxx has lost it's Sport's bike image some years ago.
I think it has become a limited market :bigcry:

LONG LIVE THE XX

I for one would be quite content knowing I have one of the few last greats ...

But don't worry Mr. Honda will have something up his sleeve

Looks like you'll have to find another method of pulling the pigs at traffic lights then Demon  Or you could just go back to pulling your pud :D BH has got plenty of time on his hands, so perhaps he'll pull it for you :P :twisted)

From all the press articles, we will see a new xx in the "fullness of time" but it will be a significantly different machine albeit with a few styling hints to the current model. They don't seem to be able to sort the new v-tec system out, and you know Honda, they will not release a seriously flawed technology (they are still smarting from the chocolate cam chains of the VF engine!) Expect to see ABS in addition to CBS, V-Tec, 1200 cc and a more angular profile. It won't be any faster than the current model but will most likely get there quicker (if you can hang on :P ).

Thats what all the 'experts' are saying anyway. But :gives) anyway. I can't see me ever parting with mine 8)

Who gives a FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Postby Deano » Sat Jan 24, 2004 9:06 am

The old will they won't they argument eh !!!!!!!

My opinion is that HONDA have already invested a huge amount in the new xx and it will probably be around by the end of this year or early next. And if it is V-tec then it will be done right 'cos Honda won't release any system that isn't. My only concern with V-tec is the service costs. For folk like us that need servicing at least twice a year because we ride our bikes (not like the Sunday school bikers) the cost of servicing a V-tec is HUGE. Ask any VFR rider how much an 8000 and 16000 mile service is :banghead)

Demontat may be right too 'cos it may not be called a blackbird or xx but a new bike it is, and may have a new name to suit.

Valid points made in the posts above but don't forget - just because a new totally revamped version (or similar) comes out doesn't mean that our versions (whatever they are carbed/injected/cats up the cans etc etc) have suddenly become crap. Our bikes are fantastic and nothing will change that fact. If something is as good as this now it will still be this good whether a new one comes out or not.

Rant over.

WTF is the point in putting ABS on a powerful bike :roll) Had ABS on the PAN and still locked the bastid thing up, and I DID notice a significant difference in stopping power with the ABS model - non-ABS gives much more braking power when you need it :wink)
