Hein Gericke- In the shit

Postby bezzer » Wed Aug 06, 2003 10:27 am

Parent company of Hein Gericke have filed for insolvency. Apparently British part is doing well but the group as a whole is in the shit. Not another closing down sale!!! not that I'm bothered as I havent got a local branch and have never visited one but a lot of people appear to like their stuff. Beware if you are ordering anything from them that isnt in stock use a credit card then at least you have some comeback if the goods fail to materialise.
This is the parent company website with the details

95% of all Harley Davidsons ever made are still on the road... the other 5% made it home.

Gerricke do indeed make some really good quality gear. Their suits are superb (Pro Sports and Race Tech).

We have a local branch in Newcastle and they are open on Sundays which can be a fookin life-saver!

I do not take that news very happily...if Gerricke close I think it's a bad thing, cos no other bike specific shops are open on Sundays and sell ya consumables (plugs, filters, brake pads etc etc..the list could go on and on).

Sad times...

Apart from the vulture instinct in me  I think it would be very sad if another big company went to the wall. Where would we be in a couple of years from now? At the mercy of the local dealers, thats who. And I think I know the implications of that and the effect it would have on my pocket. It is the large retailers like Hein Gericke that have the ability to keep prices down. Although I dont own anything (apart from waterproofs and I have never had the need to use them!) that they supply, I am sure they have helped keep prices realistic elsewhere.

I have bought loads of stuff from Hein Gerrick, in fact my 2-piece black leathers came from them 3 years ago and apart from a couple of dodgy zips are still going strong. there prices are extreamly competative, it would be sad to see them go.

Bought a 1 piece undersuit for under my leathers the other day from my local Gericke store. Bloody fantastic they are too. In weather like today's the problem with leathers is that they stick to your skin and will not slide at all. This undersuit stops that. After sweating my nads off at the wheelie school all day my leathers came off like a schoolboy watching his young female maths teacher bending over  They are highly recommended by me. Anyway...Hein Gericke forever
