Kappa/Givi rack mounting bolts

Postby adamtk » Tue Jan 24, 2012 9:17 pm

So kindly got given a rack for the bird but i went to put it on and realised that the standard bolts fitted are too short.
Where can i get these from? Not that i have or can afford a topbox to go on it but hey ho lol

Regards

D'aaawwww shucks :oops) ....... ya prat

I have a wingrack at home but haven't used it since 2010. The standard bolts at the top end (4 of around the grabrail) aren't long enough and Honda don't make ones that are. I also seem to think (correct me if I'm wrong, coz I'm at wuk and can't simply go and look) that you need 4 spacers to get the thing on properly.

If that's right----2 choices...

Buy a Givi/Kappa fitting kit or the bolts/spacer set if you can get 'em; or

I'll measure up and post up the spec of the bolts and spacers you need and, if you have some basic nouse about these things, you can source them from your local hardware shop/engineering supply factors.

Let us know how you wish to proceed :wink)

The elderliest and done thatiest .... Mick :roll)

Hi Mick

Thanx for the advice, i think it would be great if you could send me the specs for the bolts and i will source them should be straight forward. I wasnt aware of any spacers though.
More info the better.

Cheers

Ok- you will require-

Spacers- round-4 of with these dimensions
O/D- 14mm I/D- 8mm Length- 9mm

Bolts as follows

M8-P1.25 x 60mm 2 of

M6-p1.00 x 60mm 2 of

That'll cover the rail bolt set up and tyhe standard Honda bolts will cover the rear footrest mounts.

Enjoy :wink)

simmo,,,,,, did ya have any issues wuth leaving the silver honda washer on it??

my one shook loose constantly,, even with med' thread lock.
ya wouldn't notice unless ya tried to lift the back of the rack up.

took out the honda washers and just fitted it right in, and haven't had bother since. :pullhair

I've just bought a Wingrack off Flea-Bay supposedly with a fitting kit! After a trial fitting and much head scratching over the bag of bolts supplied, I decided to buy the bits recommended. The rack looks horrible but does the job.

Thanks Mick :thumbsup)
