Which charger

Hi all out there in Ixxra land. I got a new "Oxford oximiser,aniversary edition" all singin`, all dancin` batt` charger, two weeks ago,(cost £22.00) To charge & maintain my new battery. It "did what it says on the tin" up to a couple of days ago & then, for no apparent reason, it stopped working :bigcry: :banghead) . Does anybody know of a more reliable charger(similar to the oxford) I could get for under £50.00, Which will keep my xx Batt` in top condition.? Thanks, kind regards, Len W. (sircular)

I've got a Datatool one that I've had for years, leave it connected and it moniters the battery etc.... There is some concern about leaving them connected to a blackbird battery and knackering electronic bits. I've had it connected to several bikes over the years with no probs but now I shove it on until everything goes green if I don't use the bike for a while and then disconnect it once it's charged, I don't leave it permanentely connected.

Personal opinion, but I won't use anything else and CTEK has never missed a heartbeat. They're more conditioners than chargers and will deal with sulphation, discharging, recharging and maitenance without you doing anything.

Charger

ou'll only buy it once and it's good for your car up to 75 A/h.

For a fiver over your budget, they do the MXS5T. The same but deals with bigger batteries (dunno how big your car is)

Charger 5

The accessory range is also pretty wide. I fitted this to the bike...

Panel

When I get home, I plug in, flick the wall switch (I fixed mine to the wall, connected it to a mains switch rather than a plug and ran the charging wire so it hangs directly down over the bike) and fook off.

dunow yet... xx's battery on charge tuesday this week ...
it's only been standing for 2 1/2 years so i think the battery will be very low...good test for it eh... lol

oh.. btw... which clip goes to which terminal then... screwy screwy :rolleyes:

The best test for you and your battery aj is for you to stand barefoot in a bowl of water, holding the positive terminal against ya bellend and the negative connected to the mains. That should sort it one way or another. :thumbsup)

Problem is with these new smart chargers is that if the battery is totally flat it will say its knackerd. Well not in those words but it will say its defective or another such term. Thats usually bollocks. Put the so called knackered battery in parallel with a good charged battery such as a car battery and leave it for a few hours or over night then try charging it again. It will probably hold a charge but if this dont work then its totally fooked
