....it does make the Panzer good looking.

Well, it's not brand new - 1998 in fact, so contemporary with the 'Bird.

It's a Fendt 395GT, the largest of the so called 'Tool Carriers', that were produced between 1989 and '98. The name is a description of it's ability to carry implements at the front, middle, and more traditional rear. Let's make this very clear - the name is no reflection of the owner/driver :P

These were more popular on the continent, where farmers traditionally use implements simultaneously at front and rear. For promo film see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk4OuBhdYbc

Some stats:
118 BHP
6.1L Deutz air cooled 6 cyl diesel mounted under the cab, but surprisingly quiet.
5060 kgs
21 forward gears, 40 kph.

I bought it to run a 3m grass mower/topper that my previous 75 hp Massey was struggling with. Specifically, I chose it for the front hydraulic linkage arms and pto, which are only now becoming common on newer larger machines. With the 30-70% front/rear weight distribution, the outfit will be perfectly balanced with the topper on the front.

So you see, all my tractor gazing in Austria was not in vain. lol

Ajuki, I have been a bit lax keeping up to date with the forum, so I must have missed your post where you said you were now a hairdresser, had THE op, and are now calling yourself Tracy.

aj, if you look again, the chassis is light titanium ( grey to everyone else ) . It's only the go-faster fairings that are green.

And where's the MILF attachment? It looks as though you need some lubricant for the PTO :wink)

Looks as though Jono's already lubricated his PTO :sick)

Now if i'd bought the new £150k Fendt, see what optional accessories you get with it.

Well since I told you about the Fendt, I may as well finish a long story....

After eight weeks preparing the tractor, it was delivered with a gearbox fault. The High range in the three speed splitter would not engage, so I only had 2/3rds of a gearbox. :banghead) . Oh, and it would slip out of reverse sometimes.

Asked the dealer very politely to put things right. He refused. :evil)

Reminded him of his legal obligations under the various Sale of Goods Acts, so he suggested we swap tractors back, and I got full refund.

So have been tractor searching over the weeks, and finally bought this one today (subject to contract) :-

Same money as the Fendt, but 10 years younger, 1300 fewer hours, and in true Ninja style 32 mph :shock) . I do have to have a front pto fitted though.

Compared with the one I saw with Andy, it has 30 fewer horses at 150 HP, but is 3 years younger and has new boots. Generally, a better cared for tractor.

Chris

So the old one was like a GS that's been run into the ground and the new one one is like a GS that has had a caring and sympathetic owner............sounds familiar :wink) :thumbsup)

Hi Simmo,

Wish I was in St Kitts right now, drinking rum and escaping this weather.

You probably want me to fall into the trap of saying that's a Massey 135 or 168, but it is actually the IMT Eastern Bloc copy.

Don't think much of that hap-hazard painting of the zebra crossing. Think the highways guy had one to many rums.

Regards,

Chris
