...It's changed the game for me...The whole fookin fiasco, from beginning to end.

The sporting paradigm was changed at Argentina and, after Assen, Sepang and now the "Grand Finale" I'm just a disillusioned spectator who's glad he didn't make the trip to Valencia. Not because Rossi didn't win the championship, but because I believe the words and actions of the best racers in the world have caused something to be lost from motorcycle racing... and that's "honesty in the endeavour to win".

Rossi - Marquez - Lorenzo: they've all played their part in diminishing the credibility of bike racing.

All of them.

That really does make me want to cry.

http://news.yahoo.com/lorenzo-takes-...2639--spt.html

" In a bizarre twist, Lorenzo appeared to support Rossi's claim in an interview with Movistar MotoGP channel

Whilst denying that "any pact" existed between him and Marquez he intimated that his compatriots had helped him win the title by not passing him.

"They knew what I had in play," Lorenzo said.

"The fact they are Spaniards like me helped me.

"That helped me because for sure in another kind of race they would have tried to overtake which they didn't this time."

He added: "If Valentino had been in my position and with Italians behind they would have done exactly the same.

"The title had to be for Spain."

Don't take it all too seriously folks,

no morals in sport, win at all cost,

its all about love and money,

the Sepang antics have been the best advert for next season,

Totally agree with you pal but as you know Ive been feeling it a bit longer :(

I really hope lessons have been learnt from this season and lets have some integrity back for next year .

The same four will be battling it out again next year and unless they get their act together the media coverage will boom and bust it if they play into their hands again.

Agreed, Dave - but I don't think this will go away until Rossi retires - and that's a shame because he's done a lot for bike racing, like him or not. As Kenny Roberts said; "the points table doesn't lie" - but now we're not focused on the points because the top riders have damaged - and continue to damage, not only their own sporting credibility, but also the credibility of the sport itself.

I've closed the door on this now cuz I can't stand the smell any more, but there's a great article that comments very competently on what's happened in MotoGP. Here's a small excerpt from it:

Poisoning the well

Most of all, though, Rossi's decision to attack Marc Márquez so publicly has thoroughly destroyed the credibility of the series, and detracts both from the value of Jorge Lorenzo's championship and his own performance in 2015. By attacking Márquez, Rossi is admitting that he did not have the championship in his own hands, and needed help from other riders to win it. Why he thought those riders would want help him after he launched such blistering attack on them is something of a mystery.

Well thats the best most impartial article Ive read on the subject to date :thumbsup)

The scary bit :-

"I will see you in my motorhome later," Rossi said (live on TV and in front of the worlds press )

For a MotoGP rider to be summoning the CEO of Dorna, the man who runs the series, to his motorhome, is a sign that the balance of power is out of kilter. Carmelo Ezpeleta should be summoning riders to his office at his own convenience. He should not be at the beck and call of riders, for them to summon him as they please.

The sad bit for me is I still cant understand why he would do it, he has the moto GP world in his palm :oops)Love him or hate him everyone respected him The article covers it all very well tho and well worth the read...

It was a fantastic race especially from Lorenzo running at that pace for the whole race, it would have been so so easy to crash out... To take half a second off the lap record in qually is just unbelievable and to be fair Rossi never quite had the pace of the 3 in front of him all weekend.. Even tho he did a fantastic job in the race. Did he jump the start :shock) Dont forget tho that it needed both the Hondas to pass Lorenzo not just Marquez for Rossi to take the title ...

And the other sad bit for me was to hear people BOOing after performances like that, :banghead) :bigcry: :bigcry: theres no room for that either ..

I don't think this will go away until Rossi retires

I hope not Eric because he still deserves the swansong of swansongs in my honest opinion :thumbsup)

I think you answered this in an earlier post, Dave, when you said he's become "bigger than the sport". In reality, that could never happen - the sport will still be here in some form or other long after we've shuffled off this mortal thingy: but his apparent mindset now seems to match that of the true fanatics among his fans who believe that he can do no wrong...

...(Arr-rr... I think I've heard that before... :roll) )

Anyway - it's all water under the bridge now, pal.

Let's see what happens next year!

Before GP's and Road racing became specialised, folk like Agostini, Hailwood et al rode in a single world championship series...

That series included the TT

When the TT was dropped, the development of pure racing bikes continued.

Circuit racers can ride at "100%", so they have (maybe) a keener sense of the limits of a bike than road racers.

Road racers can't (and don't) race at "100%" cuz it's not fookin safe to do so. :-?

...That's why they (the road racers) race on circuits to get faster

...(but they always get a bit of a spankin', innay? :smackbutt ) - .

Learn yer 'istory, luvvy... Here's a starter for ten... :thumbsup)
