Proper winter now

Postby jono49 » Sat Jan 16, 2016 11:28 pm

Lot's of snow oop here tonight and last friday was the same, but a little larger portion, I was at Melrose in the borders with work and with time to spare to travel to my next job it was mandatory to take the scenic route via St Boswells, Jedburgh, Carter bar, Bonchester bridge, Newcastleton etc, the journey was interesting to say the least and high concentration driving with 8" of snow at it's best on the Steve Hislop training route (You know it well) but apart from the Angst of the journey it was an opertunity to see the route like that and boy was it beautiful, anyroad enough bollox and here's some pics.............

Just as quick as it came it soon dissapeared by Monday, and by midweek I found myself at Hawick and Langholm and I used the B6399 to travel on and stopped at a local beauty spot at Whitrop, not sure if we have used this road on an IXXRA run?..........

Not much foliage at this time of year but the Lichens looked in good order :thumbsup)

On thursday I made a pass through Galloway forest and stopped at "Clatteringshaws" where some of us stopped to divvy up Mo's chocolate cake at the visitors centre, this is just before at a layby type pull in!

I would have put this in the rideout section, but it's really a driveout

Sign o' the times, Jono. :roll)

This morning I was watching a cat playing with a captured mouse in the garden (never seen a mouse in January during the 18 years we've lived here).

We went out in the afternoon sunshine (cold, though!) and had to travel home through driving snow. :shock)

We lived in Scotland for 7 years and, from our experiences, up there winter means WIN-ter... snowman

...From your pix, it looks like you're just getting a gentle reminder, pal.

...Keep it safe... :thumbsup)

After 57 years living in and travelling around Scotland, I've had a few gentle reminders as low as -18 degrees!

I caught 2 mice in traps this week they're still active and can breed all year round if in the right location! :thumbsup)

I was having a ball on my trials bike today in the driving snow :ride)

And my pics were posted not to highlight the weather but more for the benefit of members on here who have travelled the roads mentioned and may recognise them! :wink)

May your balls fester and all your dreams be wet ones! :thumbsup)
