Norton

Postby Simmo » Fri Feb 26, 2016 9:04 pm

A mate picked me up today and took me up to the Norton factory at donnington

A tour round the Assembly building ( I say building because it was a private hospital and with carpet on the floor and a suspended ceiling not a lot has changed) the tour took about 1.5 hours by a knolagable mechanic all for the price of a donation

So 2 points I picked up on was
the engine that is used in there TT bikes Do you know what it is ?

Point 2 the clutch on there road bikes where is it from ?

Go on have guess not a Google

A good place to visit :thumbsup)

Sheffield Police had a couple of Norton Wankel engined bikes. Chatting to one of the ossifers about it and he said the engine was bulletproof. There were worries about the rotor tips wearing but he said his bike had been stripped right down to check everything after 100, 000 miles and nothing at all to replace. Wasnt it abandoned due to exhaust temos and oil consumption?

Ron Haslam "road" them didunt he? :ride)

Yeeerrrsss.. Rocket Ron...and...???

The street version they produced for gulf was a pig below 12k revs....lumpy to put it mildly
Trying to keep it above in traffic and built up areas was considered anti social...
But.... Once let lose...fek it went.... :shock)

Sorry to see it go at the end of the season... Should have bought it off them ....
They didn't know what to do with it anyway....don't know who they sold it to" screwy

Regards
Aj :ride)

Yes when you Buy a £26,000 Norton

you get parts from a TDM, Harley, and some big American car (the bits at the top of the engine that rock up and down thought they were called tappets but apparently not)
