So, what's your NEXT bike?

So the time will come when you decide, for whatever reason dare I say it, that your Honda SuperBlackbird, your pride and joy and without doubt the"bestest" bike ever made, to part company with her.
When that time comes, what are you going to replace her with?

Subject came up after the Borders weekend. Foolishly, after our Birds being tucked up over Winter, we just rolled them out of our garages, jumped on them and then proceeded to ride about 750 miles over 3 days. No gentle breaking in of our bodies after a Winter of riding the GS and Trumpet, nope straight into it and boy did we suffer physically from the "new" riding position :bigcry:
Doesnt help being another year older too.
Anyrode, Cyclops suffered far more than me and actually curtailed his riding, but we did discuss on the way back, how long we could keep going on the Bird and what would be the next choice of bike.

Me, I'm totally undecided as theres really fook all out there that catches my eye. The super doopa KTMs and such like are fookin hideous, BMWs of any kind I would never ever touch with a fookin bargepole ever again. (Once bitten, twice shy) what a crock of shite. Trumpets? Nah. Kwasakis are fekkin ugly, Busas sre so old hat. Pans I always liked but Im never going to use it 2 up so whats the point.
Multistrada, lovely, but fekkin scarey money when owt goes wrong.

However, a chink of light shone down between the dark clouds the other day and I am quietly warming to this bike. Very esrly dsys, but I think I see some hope for the future.

So, what's your next one?

well ive been thinking about it for a couple of years , I still want the power and acceleration, top speed, so have mulled over a few but none has the beauty of the xx and 2 up comfort

Kawasaki zzr1400 could be the one but passenger comfort is not as good
kawasaki Gtr 1400 poor looks fugly but probably a sensible choice
Hayabusa no
KTM 1280 GT cost to much although acceleration through the roof
Aprilia caponord cant touch the floor could be a contender if seat height can be reduced not many dealers round here though
Triumphs dont do it for me at the minute
BMW :sick) :sick)

so any suggestions no not TDM but as i'm
going to peterbrough show Sunday to see if i can get a ride on something :thumbsup)

So, what's my next bike? duh

Anyway, let's forget that question for now...........

I looked at the JAWS conversion and even though I thought it looks shite, sent a message to say I would collect a kit, Unfortunately they had non in stock and being an impatient sort of person who likes a challenge I thought I would see what I could do. Managed to source a top yoke from a company in Lancaster, then a set of renthals from Demon Tweeks, it wasn't an easy job with no instructions, and a fair amount of cutting and spannering was involved, but I think the result is kinder on the eye and does not look as out of place.

I would't recommend a VFR 1200

as Bird owners you will not be happy with it, you might be happier with a R1 or a Blade :thumbsup)

compared to the bird its slow, cramped, vibey, looks crap, runs out of fuel after 80-90 miles of riding, don't bother considering one of these as your next bike,

you will not be happy

infact the only plus I have found is my dual clutch is tax exempt and I can park it anywhere thanks to the motorbility scheme :notworthy) :notworthy)

But do they really look as shite as the modern alternatives if it can give you the comfort ?? Ive seen a lot worse out there...
We know the Bird is a stonkin bike And works well.... stop gap untill its replaced properly :)
Or are we just looking for an excuse forr a new bike :wink)

Me, Im prepaired to sacrifice power for a lighter more comfortable bike... Ramos is still a heavy bike at the end of the day so
It mite be a Cossrunner for me then :ride)

John, could be your Bird in that pic mate , no foooka as seen that either

Nope, ya right, it maybe don't look as shite as some of the modern day ones, but it does look like a shite Blackbird; there's a difference :wink) .
Nope, not looking for an excuse to get summat new; that wasn't the issue to start with. As I said in the OP, it was getting back on the Bird after a long Winter that made me realise I'm terminally older, my joints are wearing and badically I was struggling with comfort. OK, I've started to fit the Bird again. It was this problem that made me realise mebbe it's time for a change and if so what next. It's only since I've started to think about it that yes, the thought of summink 'new' has stared to grow on me.

Dare I say it, but, up to press the ONLY thing that has appealed to me in a number of ways is, yes, the VFR. It is growing on me more and more........even the looks at certain angles are quite good. The build quality is typical Honda, V4 engine is stonking and so on.......As for the rest, nope, fook all out there that does it for me. Need to look into the availability on the Motobility Scheme, as apparently I tick a lot of boxes.

We'll see.

That's another thing ....price. There's no way I'd ever consider paying that sort of money for a bike too. I'll leave it to the previous owners to soak up depreciation thank you very much.

I saw that one yesterday. It's fugly but maybe that's the future....bet it's great to ride though. I thought the "festival" was rubbish, just as bad as when it was the BMF show.

I enjoyed the show ,watching Colin Edwards finish last in the speedway with us spanking the yanks some good classic bikes "racing" round the track and a few manufacturers plying there wears
One in particular 4years 0% interest £4000 deposit £160 a month = brand new bike
Could be the one

Fuffooks-ache, is this a private sewing circle or can anyone join in? :twisted)

...Here's a little secret for ya...

They sell motorcycles at m-o-t-o-r-c-y-c-l-e..d-e-a-l-e-r-s-h-i-p-s, where they'll even let you ride the bike if you tell them that you might want to buy it.

These are known as “t-e-s-t..r-i-d-e-s”... and they're free!! jawdropping

OR – mebbe you could TALK to someone who’s just BOUGHT a new bike! :P

Do you know anyone who might have recently sold their Blackbird and bought a different type of machine? :-?

Why not get it straight from the horse’s mouth, instead of wafflin’ on abart “what I MIGHT buy next” (but probably won't) on here? duh
