"Motorcycle Industry Association boss Steve Kenward believes a ruling in the European courts could wipe out motorsport in Great Britain if our government does not exempt it (MOTORSPORT) from a blanket vehicle insurance law.

Yesterday, the Government issued a document for public consultation, which gives an option of implementing the European Court decision known as the ‘Vnuk judgment’. The ruling makes it compulsory for anyone using any form of motorised transport to have third pa rty damage and injury insurance. This will affect all participants in all forms of motorsport."

It's not been fully-implemented across Europe (yet)

From the government Impact Assessment document

"Experience from the Netherlands and Finland is a helpful starting point. Here the cost of such a product is around 5,000 Euros per driver per annum. When compulsory competitor-to-competitor third party liability insurance was introduced in Finland it effectively ended grassroots motorsport in the country because this cost became prohibitive for the amateur motorsport enthusiast. However, for the UK, the cost could be considerably higher as a result of personal injury claims requiring cover and with medical expenses being recoverable."

From https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/n ... cing-in-uk

"The insurance industry has made it clear to government that third party risks for motorsport activities are uninsurable, not least because of the sheer number of potential vehicle damage claims that would arise. Therefore, if implemented, the Vnuk judgment would wipe out all legal motor and motorcycle sport activity."

Well… As far as I know… :roll)

…BSN (and, potentially, the Monopolies Commission) seem to be the only ones keeping tabs on all this stuff.

According to them lads…

Silverstone can’t afford to continue hosting MotoGP…

BRDC (Silverstone) wants to keep MotoGP

…but CoW is still on the cards.

Spose we’ll just have to wait to see how it all pans out,
but I’d love to see MotoGP back at Donny…

...In conjunction with affordable TD prices, of course!

"Extreme Sports Firm lends support" blah blah does not in any way constitute a positive and definite step forward....its support and just that. I support the idea/proposal but that also means jack shit in the great scheme of things. Go do a bit of research and see the full details of the sorry story . It was and is all smoke and mirrors and aint never not gonna happen.

I wasn't offering an opinion, Headmaster (unlike some). :roll)

I was asked if I’d heard anything, so I provided some information – with links
so anyone who had any doubts about woddawuzz sayin’ could seeferremselves.

... Soon be “put up, or shut up” time.

Construction is "due to start in the Spring of 2017".

…Just in case they can’t agree when that is, I looked it up for them:

In 2017, spring begins on March 20, 6:28AM EDT or 10:28 UTC

...Of course - even if they start, it doesn't automatically mean they'll finish, does it? :-?

...Be nice if they did, though!

…Happy digging, Bach… :roll)
