Day return ferry tickets

Postby Turbot » Fri Aug 22, 2003 2:58 pm

Hi
I'm just wondering if there is anything to stop me buying 2 sets of really cheap day return ferry tickets, and using the outbound ticket form one, and the inbound from the other 2 weeks later? Has anyone tried this before, or does anyone know if this is even legal?

There was somethin' on the telly a few weeks back about this. It's not illegal but the ferry companies don't like it - not enough profit or some other such lame excuse. They reckon that they keep tabs on unused return tickets and will catch you on the return trip and make their money anyway.

Bottom line - try it and see. You would probably get away with it if you use different companies.

Yep - they keep a tally and charge you on the return trip. Easiest thing to do is to change your registration number while on the continent, get a local to buy a return ticket with the other reg, and pretend yer fookin foreign. It's like floggin a dead hoss man - the bastids get yer every time. :P

Unless you can hide in an envolope like Taz then you could go and return from the continent for less than a quid.lol lol :D
