Postby johno » Fri Nov 07, 2003 11:09 am

Hi Guys, I'm looking for a bit of info. Could somebody give me the dimensions for the frame plugs for my '97 xx , with a bit of luck one of the fitters at work will turn them down for me. :D

Good luck, your machinist will love you :wink)
They're 4 different sizes you need 2" bar for the two larger ones and 1 3/4" for the two smaller.

The part that goes into the frame are all 15mm long, the heads are 4mm thick
RH large- 42mm dia with 30mm hole in back 5mm deep. 49mm head
RH small- 36mm dia with 20mm hole in back 5mm deep. 43mm head
LH large- initial 42 dia then turn down a 5 degree taper from end to base of top. 30mm hole 13mm deep. 49mm head
LH small- initial 33 dia then turn down a 5 degree taper from end to base of top. 20mm hole 5mm deep. 33mm head

30 degree taper on the heads,2mm deep grooves for O rings, polish the bastards up and there you have it :P

If he tells you bollocks you'll have to come back to me and I'll do you some when I get chance.

Nearly forgot... those are the standard measurements I use to make sure they fit in the holes without catching the metal, frames holes can vary by up to a mm so you may have to use different O rings/PTFE tape etc if they are too slack or tight on your bike.
95% of all Harley Davidsons ever made are still on the road... the other 5% made it home.

:D Too late, I gave the bloke the sizes yesterday, I'll give him a chance to see what he can come up with (although he went a bit white when he saw the specs), £25 thats nearly 2 crates of Guinness! But watch this space I might be back to ask Bezzer in a couple of weeks :thumbsup)

Bezzer also makes a donation to IXXRA funds from that 25 quid :thumbsup) How about asking your mate to make a donation too seeing as how Bezzer did all the hard work in the first place
