A colleague and myself are going to demonstrate a software package to the Ambulance Service in Portugal.

I know Thank you. But it would be real nice to be able to say "Hello" and "welcome"

Can you help me out? Can you give me phoenetic pronunciation too?

Hi Mandy here is a link that may help you.
Portugese is not too far off from spanish so should be quite easy.
eg. Hello is olÃ¡ which is the same as spanish without the "h"
Welcome is bem vindo, (bain veen doe)...

the pronounciations are more on the Brazilian side of things, but it's the same lingo and yo'll be understood.

If you need something specific you can always give us a bell and you can hear it said first hand...The missus is a good teacher and I know she'll only be to pleased to help.
