Windscreen rubber flanged nuts

The four rubber flanged nuts/well nuts that the windscreen bolts fix to can become worn/sloppy after a time. If you want to replace them its £2 odd each from Honda or if you want to go the cheapskate way do this-

These from Rawlplug are £2.50 for 4 they have the correct 10mm diameter and 5mm thread insert but are 25mm long instead of the 13mm of the bike ones.

Cut it down to the 13mm length you want, the thread insert is in the cut off portion, the easiest way to get it out is to burn it off, the rubber gets brittle and just brushes off.

Image
Use the bolts that came in the packet, thread on the insert then the rubber, put a washer and nut on top, lubricate the insert with silicone oil/WD40 or whatever then just tighten the nut and the insert is pulled inside the rubber bush.

Cost £2.50 for 4 and about 15 minutes of your time instead of about £9 from Honda. Works a treat just replaced a couple of mine when I changed the screen.
If you see any other makes besides Rawlpug just be sure they have the 5mm thread before you buy them.

95% of all Harley Davidsons ever made are still on the road... the other 5% made it home.
