Alternator output and spare watts on 2004 FI ?

Postby Nickhlx » Tue Aug 01, 2006 10:34 pm

Hi Guys and Gals,

Just wondered what the rated max alternator output is on a 2004 model and what the bikes typical take of that is (at night) ? - I.e. how much headroom is there for heated jacket and accessories ?

Thanks

Nick

dont know the specs your asking for but you can save power to allow for extra goodies by fitting led lamps to replace the dash lights and also the rear lights..couple of amps or so saving strieght away
Lifes too short to eat cheap food!
top tip..dont enter the blackwall tunnel with 3m headroom when driving 3.02 height!!!!!!
motor home build finished 15 months later!!

Hi,
Thanks for that - I did a headlamp conversion which allowed me to switch off one of the lamps for daytime riding when on dip - saved 55W. I just was wondering if this bikes power available was marginal or there was plenty spare available ...... will post the answer if I find it.
Thanks again,
Nick

Hi Nichhlx

I have heated grips, sat nav, mp3player, pmr radio and phone all running of the bike (when they all work :banghead) :banghead) :banghead) ) and have had no problem so I would say that their is not an issue with reg output.

now reg reliability is something else, isn't it Reefee :-?

Hi,

Thanks for that - I guess all that would add up to about 40 watts so thats a bit... I haven't got mine yet, but are the headlight bulbs H4 (i.e. 2 filaments per light unit, or H1 / H7 single filament lamps and do both or just one come on when on dip ?

Still feeling my way round this (excellent) site - I see Jaws and someone else come up as a source of various bits but I don't know how to get in touch with them / their website details - can you help here ?

Thanks again - much appreciated,

Nick

Thanks,
N

for the reply - this was well over a year ago and I'm sad to have to admit that I sold it about a year ago - cracking bike but just couldn't get on with the riding position..

Thanks,

Nick
