cleaning kit

Postby iainm9438 » Fri Jun 20, 2008 2:28 pm

hi all,

Went to ASDA on weekend for usual shopping and found special offers on bike / car cleaning kit. Every item £1. :) They have the bendable small wheel brushes, a funny sort of chamois called super soaker as well as wash, wax etc.
Tried the brushes.... great for wheel spokes and rear shock etc, although 1 did fall apart when it hit the water :banghead) but the others are ok.
The super soaker is like a large foam block that soaked up all the water on the bike and I couldn't even ring anything out atferwards. Great bit of kit.
These were on offer in ASDA in Gloucester but they may have them in other branches.
Well worth a look.
regards
Iain

It depends what you mean on soapy water :P

Most dish washing detergents has a good helping of salt in them....

We too have a thing about washing our bikes, but always ensure we use a car/bike wash shampoo - I heard about the salt thing on this forum ohhh.....years ago.....

I use Minute Wash Andy/Ladybabe. It's waterless and I get to wash me bike in the garage inside 5 minutes, in any weather, without chamois leathers, fannying around with hoses and 23 different brushes etc etc. I did wash her with a hose last year in France though-

Forgot me spray :roll)

Just re-read yer post Mandy :oops) It's designed for automotive use and has no salts 'n stuff in there :-)

no, never use anything that is meant for dishes etc. :evil)
i use high gloss car wash (again, avialable cheap, this time at morissons),
followed by auto glym degreaser, super resin polish & instant bike shine - great products if a bit costly. :| but last for months on end :-)
still looks like a new bike :-) apart from the grey head riding it! :bigcry:
