Calais - Barcelona

Postby hondated » Tue Feb 05, 2008 2:54 pm

As anyone done this route. I intend to di it at the end of May beginning of June. Hopefully I will be able to take in the Motogp. What I need to know from any of you wise bikers is whether you know of decent camp sites on route ( I intend to enjoy the ride so will be taking as many N roads as I can) does anyone know about these Bail Bond things I might need to get. I have plannned out the route on the AA Planner and its a mileage of 860miles and I reckon to take 4 days riding and 1 day rest to get there.Any advice anyone could offer would be welcome and if you fancy doing it yourself let me know and you would be welcomed to join me. Do,nt worry I am a 57 year old grandad so I won't creep into your tent of a night.

Hi
regarding the Bail Bond , if you read your policy it will explain all . Most insurance companies will cover that automatically - not like years ago when you had to ask for one .

I reckon you will manage it no problem....

Couple of years ago I did Calais to Friggalina (near Gibraltar) in 4 days. I used Hotels for my stops and had pre-booked them.
1st night stayed in Normandy
2nd night South of France
3rd night just south of Madrid
4th night was at rented villa.

I would certainly take more time getting there after that experience, was a few days of hard riding.....

I would suggest you do a search on the Internet for all the camp sights between Calais and Barcelona then mark them on your map book...
At least that way when you've had enough riding for one day just look at your map book for the nearest site.

I would love to come with you but there is no way I would go back to Barcelona with all the mad drivers there.
Good journey, hope you enjoy it.
The above opinion in no way represents the sound of mind. In fact it......em, err, thingy....

oh bummer...... sodin ouch again

Hondated, will you be using GPS? if so, I may have a list of campsites for the Garmin but to be honest, nearly all French towns and villages have municipal campsites which are generally up to a good standard.

Let me know if you need more advice.
