.

personaly :P ... i find a fixed hard top box (big fooooker) is fine for storing day ride out stuff :ride)

so for the 1 time a year i have been touring then i find simply slinging soft luggage on (inc tank bag)
is convenient enough :-)
and more cost effective without a space compromise 8)

its a personal preference thing... what ever floats yer boat

regards :wink)

Got the OEM panniers, and top box, baglux tank cover and tank bag.

More than enough space for anything :P

Hi Howard
As u can see from the pics i prefere the Givi Luggage colour matched in the best colour xx xx xx carry everythin bar the preverbial kitchen sink lol and wen you get to where your goin, just unlock and carry in like a case, :thumbsup) :thumbsup) The only down side is the cost :shock) but worth it, i normally leave my top box on, just to carry the wifey,s bag even though she has her own bike, an sv650, Some peeps think the wing rack is ugly on the xx wen your not using the panniers, but i think its fine, But i think Givi do another option to the wing rack that is supposed to be a lot tidier and you dont have the 4 indicators, so if you can afford the outlay i think Givi is a very good option xx i was lucky mine came with the luggage onboard :D :D :D

Regards

John

Only draw back with OEM Panniers is no Top Box mount, you have to fabricate your own. Much better than GIVI setup colour coded to bike and with the xx logo on each box 8) bought from David Silver Spares.

FWIW- We use a Givi Wingrack - a Givi E52 top box and a pair of basic Kappa cases. They work superbly and personally, I wouldn't tour beyond say, a couple of nights away without them. If uou are planning serious miles I'd humbly suggest hard luggage.

Ours aren't colour coded or painted (or even washed actually) because I don't like the look of scaffolding and plastic boxes on me xx whatever colour they may be and the first thing I do when I get home is spend 20 mins removing the lot and replacing them with a Renntec rack and errr-- home developed, discrete day bag

Sod the looks though, it's useability and function when yer really travelling- it's a lovely feeling walking up to yer xx in a morning, big yawn, scratch arse and 3 firm 'clicks' later, yer ready to ride away with yer gear firmly attached, dry and nowhere near yer exhausts :shock) :shock). Then you can take a pew, spark a fag, swill summat hot and brown with yer beloved and watch the soft luggage dudes line up for the "Dance of the sweaty bungee straps" lol lol

May also be worth a mention that the whole lot of luggage came to the princely sum of £320. The cases were £200 the pair new and the rest were 2nd user. Keep an eye on Swap Shop and on ebay- well worth a look.

Good luck with it whichever way you go mate

They also hold full face helmet inside each and I too have the Givi E52 topbox.

O here the link to David Silver Spares too http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/part_31878/ to give you an idea of the price :wink)

Unfortunately they not got the picture for this colour :( but browse away

Givi hard luggage for ease of use and so you can lock it and go wandering off without worrying, used to use soft but shook themselves down and melted on the cans, also kept scratching paintwork with the damn bungees...

Hard luggage of your choice is the way to go...

Hi Howard

The choice is yours and what feels good stick with.

I cheat and use both depending on if its work or play… :twisted)
There is nothing wrong with the way I ride.

Just stay 15 feet in front or 15 feet behind. You need to be 15 feet to my left or right.

Any closer and your MINE all MINE

Or you could try Ventura Luggage 8) Easy to fit and remove - doesnt stop you filtering like cases will and you can get a complete set off Ebay or from someone selling their BB on Mcn like i did . Best of all you still get to use your passenger seat if required 8)

depends on who and what you are doing

on your own touring then soft is okay, got the bint on board you will need shedloads of space and hard luggage is better

on a tour also soft luggage is okay but on a day say like brands hatch then hard luggage to take off the leathers lock them up and then walk around in shorts..perish the thought of me white legs

generally for everyday use i had a givi wingrack and a 52 litre top box then only had the side boxes for long trips or to store beer

For once, I agree with ya Tim :shock)

Tank bag and back-pack is the way to go, I've also got a rear seat bag for those long trips. For even longer two-up journeys I take the ST1300, I'm not going to make my XX look like a Pan.
