Ferry Prices

Postby drrummer » Tue Aug 17, 2010 12:15 pm

Anyone know of a way of getting cheaper ferry tickets. As it stands, the rates for the bike are only €10 less than a car. There must be a way of cutting it down a bit more ?

Last two times I have followed jacks advice....fook booking on-line.

Phoned P&O up at Hull and told them I want to travel , for example, 2 bikes and 2 riders, want it as cheap as chips, all discounts that are available including the "MCN offer , but I can't remember the offer/voucher number" :wink) , and am prepared to " sleep on a clothes line" or share with anyone else out there...just want to get to Rotterdam/Zeebrugge as cheap as possible....On - line prices as you say...on the phone £80 return (roundabouts) per person.

jack has actually just turned up on the day and got it even cheaper...but I aint that brave.

Might try ringing them. I checked with Nutt Travel, but they aren't as cheap as people say. Thanks for the tips.

The problem with the Tunnel is I'd hafta get to Wales first !

On another note, I am looking at driving to a place called Garrucha in Spain. viamichelin.co.uk says the trip would take between 18 and 24 hours, depending on whether you choose the economical or recommend route. Realistically speaking, what kind of time are talking for a trip like that. I'm thinking you could push 12 hours driving a day. Then I was thinking that cos id be travelling alone, i wouldnt fancy driving in the dark over long distances so migh have to cut that back to 8 hours at a push. Any tips on how many hours are realistically expectable ?

Eliminate the impossible. Whatever remains, however improbable, must be the part you forgot to service.

Right lads, I'll put ye wise.

The bike might be a Blackbird and there might be Wings on the tank, but it's not going to fly from Dublin to Wales.

Well if I go, I will be going Ireland to France. None of this via the UK malarky

Tell me something lads. If you were to drive to the South of Spain - from what I can see you are talking at least 3 days of 6 hours riding each way ? Would I be mental to do a trip like that just to spend 10 days and then head back ?

we're off to france for a few days jolly on the 12th. going overnight from portsmouth to st.malo. Staying 3 nights in Dinan(loverly old city) Then a final night in a little seaside town near Caen. Catching the fri. morn high speed ferry back. Hoping to get down to St. Nazare to see the w.w.2. sub. pens (mullered by the brits) I have recently purchased a Starcom advance intercom...any set up tips? Oh yes. prices. tried all kinds of ways but Brittany Ferries not moving on their on line prices. Cost £197 out and back for bike and two persons.

Cheers ken/scot, err just tried Hull to Rotterdam, just me and the 'Bird and it's quoted me £242 ! That's about right for on line prices, but hardly cheap. Phone them up and it'll be around £90 I guess. Cheaper if you turn up on the day of sailing, like jack the tight Yorkshire Twat from Bradford does. :wink)
