Putting the bike on the SNCF

Postby Thestig » Tue Apr 05, 2005 4:45 pm

Has anyone put the bike on the train to take some of the monotony of the French motorways out of the equation?
Looking at heading to Milan, but don't necessarily want to spend the whole holiday getting there either! SNCF do arun from Paris to Avignion for about 70.00 return, just wondering if anyone has had the experience of it.

Oi admin. How come there's no edit button in here???

Was going to amend the above post coz I think Studders is going on the Monte Carlo trip but still using the train. Chuff will no doubt clear things up since he seems to find it all very amusing

That's right Shadrack :wink) I just can't fathom out why anyone would want to have a biking holiday on a train though :-? Why not just fly there, buy a bike, use it, sell it, then fly back again :-? At least that way you spend more time riding the thing and it's probably cheaper too :thumbsup)

Just looking to avoid the boredom of the motorways! The drive from Calais to Paris, and from Avignon over to Milan will be great, just the hours on end of boring motorway in the middle doesn't appeal!

I think I'd prefer to be bored on a Motorway on a bike than bored on a train with a bike :P

Take no notice of those numpties Thestig, as I've said before you can't educate Pork!!!! :banghead) :banghead) :banghead)

We're travelling back from Nice to Calais by Train, mainly due to time constraints and lack of leave.

70 pounds/euros sounds ok to me for the journey, I think ours was a bit more, but worth it for a speedy return leg.
If I can help with anything, just give me a PM dude :) :)
