Ok who does the best and does it include recovery back to the uk in the event of a spill or can't repair.

NCI do recovery on their European plus option. Much cheaper than AA or RAC. It cost me £30 on top of my UK cover to get European cover for the whole year.
P.S.
On some insurance policies you have to tell them if your going abroad

When we went on the chunnel the other week I opted for their brake down and travel insurance. Including the cost of the chunnel it was £109

www.travelcover.co.uk,-www.vehicle rescue.com cheapest in the whole fookin world backed by AXA, insurance biggest in Europe,
and only £28.00 quid, now there's a good deal and your covered for everything...
