For Those That Don't Know

The rules for the E111 reciprocal health arrangement within EEC Member States has changed
.
From the 1st of Jan 2006 the E111 will be no longer valid, you haven't been able to get one from your PO since Sept.

It's replacement is the EHIC, which you have to send for, don't know how long it is valid for as the form I have just completed say's 3 to 5 years.

You can get a form to fill from any PO, apply on line or go to

If that's the one that is like an NHS credit card with all your details on, I got one automatically in December because I had a current E111 - and I think I also posted on yoru previous thread about the E111 that if you ticked the box on the form, you should have received one automatically. I'm not sure on validity, but I go the impression it doesn't expire - I'll check when I get home

the e111 (or as its now called EHIC)doesn't cover you for everything ,for what it costs ,about £6 for a week, also take out a private insurance this will will cover costs such as overnight in hospital or repatriation
