Accomodation FRANCE

Postby jack » Thu Mar 23, 2006 11:34 pm

Touring France and don't know where to stop?
'Here ya go'
These are some of the most common one's so you don't need to look so far.

http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/index.html
The Accor group which features Etap, Mercury, Ibis (my fav) and Formule 1 (not my fav)

https://www.envergure.fr/europe/index.html
Louvre Hotel chain, Camponile (another fav) Hotel 1, Bleu Marine, Kyriad, Concorde Hotels.

http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/index.htm
Logis Hotels, the No1 independent hotel chain in Europe.

Have you toured France ? Why not tell your fellow xx riders about the great places you've stayed, or places to avoid, the more details the better, 'you know' the location, food, local bars and night life, anything you think is worth knowing.

If it's accomodation in France them post it in here!
It's appreciated.
:thumbsup)

Normandy Beach

For those wanting a good base to tour Lower Normandy, you can't go far wrong than to stop here.

http://www.normandybeach.co.uk/

Meet a few biker friends and stayed there for a couple of nights in 2004 before setting off to Paris and Prague.
Great accomodation and host, nice friendly little bar just round the corner and within 'spitting distance' of the town and restaurants.

Nice B&B near Boulogne and Calais. Stayed their on our last night in May trip. Nice place, massive room. English couple (Steve is a Londoner, Jackie a Northerner), very hospitable and pleasant. Steve is a biker (has a 10 year old Yamaha TRX). Sheltered accommodation for bikes. Short drive to Boulogne and Calais. Meeshy and I mentioned IXXRA and they were happy to be recommended and always welcome bikers. One night b&b for both of us cost 48Euros.

accomodation in France (Normandy)

Postby Greg 1953 » Sun Jun 25, 2006 7:50 pm

Anyone wanting first rate b&b in Arromanches could do worse than contact this guy, Adrian Scott - Cox at www.normandybeach.co.uk
He has a converted farmhouse & barn etc. in the centre of the town, owns a 650 triumph and a ww2 armoured car and does the best breakfasts in Normandy.
He also speaks perfect French which was a big help when my Blackbird needed help last year, he couldn't do enough to help.
This place really is that bit different, we usually stay longer than planned.

Hello

I would like to introduce our biker-friendly gite.

Bike-away to south west France and experience fast, straight roads,
winding cross-country routes and spectacular mountain passes up to 7,000 feet.

Accommodation is at Maison Lahon - situated just north of the city of Pau
and the Pyrenees, on the edge of a valley - in a converted barn (as
described on the 'house' page of our web site), with secure storage for up
to 12 bikes.

Facilities include 10 acres of garden with a small wood, swimming pool,
pelota wall, boule court and sports equipment.

After a hard day on the road we can arrange evening meals with free wine
and beer.

bike-away 1
up to 14 people sharing in the barn from £750 per week (depending on time
of year)

bike-away 2
14 people in the barn plus 6 in the house from £1,250 per week

bike-away plus
3 course evening meals £12 per person, per night extra

We also offer B & B, £60 per double room, per night

Our web site is : http://www.breakaway-to-bearn.com

We also offer Tom-Tom guides to the best in local rides

Regards

have just returned from Arromanches, Normandy (d day beeches ) and stayed in a fab B&B recomended by a few herberts on this thread. its ran by a great couple, Adrian & Karen Cox, blinding full english breaky, even does scrambled egg with chillies & peppers in it, much better than a bent bun & coffee. free beer & tea each afternoon and biker friendly. tiny walk into town for good cheep grub. perfect hosts. we are gonna go again, just for their good company, you should try it, you wont be disapointed.

I can also confirm the Adrian & Karen are the best host you are ever likely to meet in the biking world. :notworthy) You arrive tired and weary and low and behold this cold beer is placed in your hand before the sidestand is even down.

There was 3 of us went last May to do the Normandy beeches thing and really enjoyed the experience. So if you would like to catch up an a bit of our history it is well worth a trip over and stay with Adrian and Karen, ps the bikes are kept undercover and within an enclosed stone yard. BBQs no problem and the flinglish is second to none cooked to your liking in addition to the soggies.

This May the same 3 are :ride) off to Berlin & Poland, 1 x xx , 1 x Pan, 1 x Deauville. We are all looking foward to this long ride. rockon

Sure all these B&Bs are fine for most, but we prefer to stay in a gite for a week and tour from there.

Any recommendations?? Ladybird's looks nice, but a bit too far for us on one week's holiday.

Found this and borrowed it off the GS site.

"
We have just retruned from a Bank Holiday trip to Normandy and stayed with Nigel & Carole at their loveley traditional cottage. Great rooms, welcome and entertainment (Nigel cooking Brontasaurus burgers:drool). The D roads down from Le Havre give a good intro to French roads and there's no traffic! If you need a good touring base or stop off on route sud it's ideal.
"

Sounds and looks good. :ride)
