Oxford panniers

Postby JD » Mon Jul 10, 2006 12:11 pm

Oxford panniers, I have been looking at pictures of them actually on the Blackbird but they seem to not give enough room for the feet for the pillion..

Or is it me just being daft :-?

I gather that its best to put them on the bike first as a practice run or pack them after fitting....

A bit of a pain and I dont want my Trollies to be seen in public as they can frighten old ladies

I use the new top opening panniers on my BLade with no problems for the pillion, but she is only lickle, so with the extra size of a xx you should be ok.

I fit them to the bike first, then load them up as it tightens the straps up the more you load them up, but use the non slip matting as this also protects your paintwork. Have seen Autobahn speeds without any wobble or vibration

I use 2 extra bungies just for peace of mind

hope this helps

first time :banghead) 20 odd minutes

second time 10.

Everytime since 5 minutes, 3 straps, 4 bungies and 2 strings

Always strap them on empty :wink)

Just a thought, with the panniers, do you have to have the two outer straps over the seat and the inner under?

Can you have all straps under the seat and then lock it in place?

cant talk for a xx as I never fitted them to it, but on the blade i have the front n rear straps under the seat and the centre one over. I can still shut the boot ( seat ) and if i do undo the centre strap to lift the seat the panniers stay in place
