Is it OK to run out of fuel on a FI model ?

Postby Nickhlx » Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:13 pm

or does it take ages to re-prime itself or does it risk the fuel pump etc etc ??

I want to know how many miles I have left when the last indicator comes on, and so how many litres are available to use out of a full tank.. for range calculation purposes

Basically, it because I tour and have on occasions on the old bike had to run it extremely close, but as I knew I could get "X" more miles it was a little more comforting than having to make unplanned deviations.

Thanks,

Nick

Can't answer your question directly, but wouldn't it depend on how you'd been riding? I can get anywhere betwen 36-45 MPG (although usually around 42) out of mine. That is theoretically 198 - 247 miles, although the red light usually comes on with about 4 litres left, at about 165 miles. Doesn't make sense does it??? :roll)
I don't want to achieve immortality through prayer, I want to achieve it through not dying.
