Blackbird buying advice

Postby jacurutu » Tue May 10, 2005 6:42 pm

Hi everyone. I'm currently looking for second hand Blackbird, and was wondering whether there was anything specific (to the Blackbird) to look out for? Also, when are the major (ie expensive) services due?

Thanks!

16,000 is a the big service. Sure other peeps will give better advice but from being here I think you want to have a good test ride and make sure there's no vibrations. Some people here have picked up a badden and no matter what you do you can't get rid of the vibes.
Otherwise welcome 8)

Don't know where you are located but my local dealer has some very nice birds in stock at the moment, Tom Conway Motorcycles "Just Wings"
just outside the beautiful city of Durham
Greg
P.S. A highly recommended shop.

Kev

the XX is pretty much bullet proof really, just watch out for accident damage and general abuse, the cam chain tensioners can rattle after a few miles, but it's not a big job nor is it expensive. You have a choice between the early carbed models and the later fuel injected models, not much to chose between the 2 really, depends on budget. I would rather have a lovely cond carb than a ropey injected model.

He's only saying that cuz he can't afford a Ropey FI model

Welcome to the site, and my advice is the same - test ride it, and hammer fook out of it while you're at it - if it feels good, go for it :thumbsup)
