A freeride track day with a Bird... [Magione]

Postby Dr. Ergal » Wed Sep 03, 2008 10:50 am

Well... as suggested by a gentle member, I put here my posts about my experience on track with my S.U.N. (explanations here ).

Theese track days are useful for me to see the behaviour of the bike after my modification.
After replacing brake disks and shock absorber, I spent a day in Magione Circuit (central Italy, exatcly in the middle between Firenze and Roma) to have some idea, and to study the behaviour of Dual-CBS in limit situation.

Well, the result was quite good: the new mono (FG Gubellini) raises up the bike sensibly, and it turns faster and with more accuracy and "lightness"
The new disks have more "biting effect" at the initial pressur at hand lever, but (obviously) the Dual-CBS has several problem in brake managing on track; furthermore, the absolute power is limited, especially thinking about the big mass :oops) and heavy power :twisted) of the XX.

I tried to run... how can I say :roll) ... "fluid, soft", without violent brakings and I must admit that XX could be very funny even in circuit (I've been attending racetracks for 12 years, and I'm used to have lighter bikes, in my hands...)

Here some pics...

sparksss !!! :D

The suspensions worked really well, and the wear and tear on tyres was good and regular; GOOD JOB !!

And last but not least... little satisfaction 8) (especially if we consider the greater height of bike due to the FG mono)

Very soon... the new experience in Adria circuit, withe the brand new braking system !! :twisted)
