Postby Fettler » Sun Jun 21, 2009 12:29 am

Hi again peeps.
As you all know its been a while since I have rode a big bike, I need to know what is the views on clutch use both gearing up whilst accelerating and when slowing down?

All views greatly appreciated.

Oh and what kinda speed per gear is normals?

Use no clutch on way up just kick it in whatever speed feels right at time, then clutch on way down :-) just remember to back off throttle as u do ;-)

Apart from round town when u have to use clutch

I should just hang fire with that "style" Fettler....bit too early to start with clutchless ups FFS's....Go out and practice, you'll soon get the feel for it mate.

agreed, you can get into nasty situations with clutchless changes when you forget to clutch the down shift etc. :banghead)

don't worry about which style of gearchange is best, just go out and ride it like you would any other bike.... it'll treat you right :notworthy)

The best way to work it out is trial and error, you wont brake it trust me!!!
You need to feel your bike, make it an extention of your self....
I did 4700 miles in the first 2 weeks when I brought my bird and never looked back, it will all just click and feel natural there is no substitute for experiance and to gain experiance you need time in the saddle!!!

Enjoy it, there is no greater bike ever!

** Try wearing ear plugs when you ride, you may notice a difference ** (Top tip that one!)

Not quite as black and white as that Fettler. You should ask AJ for further details, he'll be able to let you know the procedure used by the Police of 'feathering the clutch while cornering.'

Practice metering the power out/in with the left hand while at low revs, and accelerating. then, try it at high revs. dont get to carried away tho. It is after all a wet clucth for a reason. :D

Tim .. A clucth is a clutch with a lisp :rockon)
