I was under the assumption that if the camera proximity thing was disabled that was ok......

Just turn the camera bit off in settings.

Doesn't matter if it's switched off, it's still illegal. Bit like having a radar detector in the boot which is illegal too even if off. If you update a Tom Tom it removes the French cameras completely.

Also not sure if it applies to bikes but from July 1st all cars must carry a breathalyser although fines won't be issued until September. Single use alcosense available in halfrauds for a fiver.
