usb port wiring

hi.. i want to wire a usb port on my bird and i was thinking of splicing into the wires to the position light in the headlamp so i only get power when key is turned on...anyone on here try that?, is it a good idea? also the wires are green and brown..i take it the brown is the live wire..dont want to have it all soldered up only to take it apart again :-D ...cheers!

Hi nutbutz.

Most of us that have fitted a usb charging point have mounted it under the seat, where its unobtrusive and protected from the weather. Spliced into rear brake light live wire. Yes, brown.
