usb port wiring

hi.. i want to wire a usb port on my bird and i was thinking of splicing into the wires to the position light in the headlamp so i only get power when key is turned on...anyone on here try that?, is it a good idea? also the wires are green and brown..i take it the brown is the live wire..dont want to have it all soldered up only to take it apart again ...cheers!
