Missing my centre stand!

Postby sambaman » Wed Jul 04, 2018 12:34 am

Firstly, sorry if I’m doing this the wrong way, in the wrong section etc but I’m new and this is my first post.

I recently swapped (yes - swapped, as in no money changed hands) my CBF1000 for a 99 blackbird. So far so good, I’m very happy with the change, but my new bird has an akro 4-1 system and no centre stand. I’ve bought a centre stand but obviously with no L/H silencer there’s nothing to stop it being pulled up into the chain. Not good.

Is there an easy fix to stop the centre stand. A bracket of some kind on the swing arm? I’m sure you lot have come across this one before. I’m considering putting the original exhaust back on, I’m not mad about loud exhausts anyway but the akro is light. Would there be a noticeable difference in performance?

Anyway thanks for reading if you got this far.

Hi Samba man and welcome.

Nope, either Akra or centre stand but not both. Lighter yes but notice a difference? If you're a Riding God ( and I don't mean that disrespectfully to Riding Gods) then you will notice the difference in weight. Me, I can't tell fekin butter from marge, even though I think I'm a decent rider I'm certainly no Riding God. Flog the Akra and make some money and put the centre stand back on and standard pipes which to me is the best look.

Good luck

Thanks, yeah I’m no riding god either. With regards to weight I was thinking about this occasions when you have to push it around or - heaven forbid - pick it up. My friend reckons she can fashion me a bracket that will attach to the bolt that holds the chain slider to the swing arm (top or bottom).

I prefer the look of the oem cans too. I also like quiet bikes, so I’m still trying to decide.

Any ideas what the akro is worth? It’s mint.

Re value of Akra ..dunno mate..eBay and Google is your friend but if you want a quick sale I'll give you £50 for it. ;)

The Bird is heavy to push around with or without. Just do it :rockon)
