Our first Prize, so Kindly donated by Nick of the Bradford branch of Hein Gericke is a PSX-R Blouson jacket in Red, Black or Blue and in any size. This is one great jacket! All you have to do is win, couldn't be easier.

Image

Just post your name saying you except the challenge and e-mail Jayne@ixxra.co.uk with your pledge, this can be as little or as much as you like, please remember, every penny goes to charity.

Proposed Challenge

Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman travelled the world, the Long Way Round, we challenge you to visit as many places as you can in a couple of days.
Visit and photograph your bike in as many locations around the world that you can find but within a couple of days’ riding.
An hour or two with a gazetteer ( http://www.gazetteer.co.uk/ ) should help… for instance: Halifax is easy – it’s in West Yorkshire and 3000 miles away in Nova Scotia. There's a Egypt in Yorkshire, Berkshire etc. You could visit Holland Fen without going further than Lincolnshire; Gibraltar is near Skegness and Philadelphia in Tyne and Wear. Then there’s Jericho Street and Durban Crescent in Leeds. I can think of Washington and Vancouver represented without going round the world. Place names and street names acceptable, no Indian restaurants and such! Just prove they exist somewhere in the world and we will accept them.

Scoring:
Towns, villages, and topographical features two points each;
Streets, pubs, parks, and urban features one point.

If you can, take a photo or prove in some way that you were there and you can be as devious and creative as you like! All we ask is that you go on the bike, enjoy yourself and limit your efforts to a maximum of two days’ riding sometime between 19th May and the end date of 19th of June
Enjoy the world!

Excuse me whilst I digress a moment ( zzz zzz )

Many moons ago as a penniless student, I used to hitchhike home every fortnight from Sheffield to Wales for food.

I used to catch the bus to Tinsley viaduct and then stand on the slip road of the M1. When a BSC steel wagon appeared I'd show the driver my cardboard sign with "WALES" written on it and it usually worked....a lift to home...drop off about 50 yards from home !

One Friday afternoon, I wasn't doing very well...no wagons. :bigcry: :bigcry: In desperation I had my sign up for every
vehicle that approached. As a clapped out yellow Ford Escort small van approached I thought "fook that I don't want a lift off him" and tried to hide my sign

Too late... :banghead) ...the van pulled in up the slip road so I thought ah well beggars can't be choosers, owts better than nowt at this time of day and ran towards the van. As I got closer I could see that the back of the van was full off bales of straw and crammed up against the back door were two fookin rabid psychotic sheep dogs  slavvering and scratching at the windows...obviously pleased to see me !!! :bigshock)
I anticipated a long uncomfortable journey ahead as i jumped in the van.

All the little old farmer that was driving said to me as I got in was "Orreet sirree, Wales is it?" :P I smiled and said yes.

The next few miles were a bit uncomfortable....windows stuck open, no heater and a hole in the floor of the van underneath my legs so that I could keep my eye on the road ! (I was pleased that the bales of straw were an effective barrier for the fookin mad nastid sheep dogs.)

Within a few miles, the farmer drove off the M1 up a slip road to a roundabout and pulled in to the side....I was a bit non-plussed until he pointed to a road sign that said "Wales" and "Worksop" !!!! It wa sthen that he said " that village Wales is just down the road for you sirree ( that's Derbyshire talk)....I got out and he drove off t'other way....stranded in the middle of nowhere :banghead) :banghead) :banghead) ...took me 5 fookin hours before I managed to get a lift back onto the M1 services.....oh how I larffed ! :D
