Wales Part 3

Postby Ro Ro » Thu Sep 24, 2015 6:34 pm

Taking the opportunity to have a few days in Wales before the weather changes. We've done north and mid Wales this year so thought we ought to have a look at South Wales and the Gower, finishing off in Cardiff next week.

Not too bad a run down, a single heavy shower in Cheltenham, but soon dried off in the sun 8)

Staying in Ross on Wye tonight before exploring Brecon Beacons tomorrow on the way to Llandovery. Will be in Dyffryn over the weekend, if anyone is this way out

Days 2 & 3 saw us exploring the Wye Valley, with tremendous views from Symonds Yat. Feeding of the Red Kites at Rhayader, and today, an amazing run through the Elan Valley over the Cambrian Mountains, Pembrokeshire Coast national park to Ivybridge just outside Fishguard

(Miles has posted road numbers for today's run on Tim's Penine post)

We've finally got wifi, hence being able to upload some photos!

Spending the next couple of days exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast and Gower region

Continuing to have a fabulous week. Weather couldn't be better 8)

Had a lovely ride down the coastal road to St Davids, dropping off down the occasional tiny lane to remote villages and bays. Not brilliant for a heavy bike when you can't see what's round the corner and it's also on a steep gradient with a camber jawdropping

The inland A roads across the South West area have lovely sweeping open bends with surprisingly little traffic :ride)

Sadly I've come down with a cold, so fuzzy head today. :P

Off to Cardiff tomorrow for a couple of days, then home Thursday, probably via Wussera, seeing as AJ not in Spain after all

Back home safely now :)

We had a lovely last couple of days in Cardiff, although no riding done whilst there ....we had a novel experience of using a bus jawdropping

We both liked the city, particularly the bay area which has been done up very nicely. Dr Who and Torchwood have probably done them a lot of favours

Didn't get to see AJ as I was suffering badly by then with Man Flu and just wanted to get home before my helmet filled with snot :sick)

All in all, it's been a good year for trips on the bike, even if we didn't make it to Spain
