ok..decoded translation of events as follows.....

I left the six bottles of water I had brought along in the hotel room !!!!

someone told her bottled water was REAL expencive in france :roll) ..then forgot all about it until we met up :wink)

Reefer took one look, rearranged the sidestand from up position to again the up position and she started !!! Phew.

this is called the gear selector..taking out of first gear to enable the starter motor circuit..panic over :roll)

We made our way to Folkestone and there met up with Loobrush, Lesley and Phil

who were late btw :smackbutt

Bumpy ride there

it moves

Reefer was great – he did hold off on the throttle to allow me to keep up

:roll) was having lunch and chatting to graham on the back

although at one point I overtook him

waved her on :wink)

and caught up with they others (of course they had slowed down a lot

mutipull puntures i think :D

I held off on the throttle in an endeavour to pull in to my rightful place at the rear

reads..slams the brakes on at 120 for no reson what so ever in the outside lane then watches my forks hit the floor trying not to rear end her fully luggaged up and 2 up also :banghead)

Following everyone else,I was not aware that we had taken a slight detour for Paris and found the Paris Ring Road to be far worse than the M25

at this major detour point i was not leading :-?

a couple of times Reefer was in front and others I was in front

reads..given up hope of ever leaving the airport roads again in the blistering heat :|

my tomtom was telling us where to go but with the sunlight shining on the screen at inopportune moments

like every turning and direction..thought it was switched off a couple of times as lacy did say how nice a paticular plan lokked..again and again and again as we kept riding past it in different direction :banghead)

I kept missing the turning

and nearly casuing a pile up behind each time :D

but eventually we were on our way again, heading in the right direction (With the help of both Tomtom and Garmin working together)

after we stopped listening to the tom tom :roll)

plenty of free water and ice

confirmed :)

:roll)

adjacent petrol station, Reefer pulls in, a car pulls in behind him, I go round said car which promptly reverses and nearly knocks me flying, obviously doesn’t know how to use rear observation

while the huge 4x4 is reversing someone :roll) finds the only blind spot it has and pulls into it :-?

Ohhh yes I remember, Garmin only went so far whereas TomTom could take us right to the hotel

:roll)

and went to eat in the hotel restaurant…… …….biggggggggggggg mistake.

confirmed..3rd worst meal ive have ever had :bigcry:

I think I would have ventured off on my own

rofl :jester)

but then Reefer returned from his early morning jog

confirmed :thumbsup)

The ride back was more eventful – there was I enjoying the scenery, enjoying the road,
..trying to see wherre reefer had gone in the distance :roll)

and suddenly screeches to a halt

tickled front brake and slowed from 25mph to a rolling stop

The meal at Flunch(?) that evening great, company was great, we all sat around outside the hotel until I decided it was my bedtime and tipped the remains of my drink into my lap

reads.. i swiftly departed company for the other bikers as having made a fool of myself spilling my complete drink over my lowers areas it would have appeared to other hotel users i hade actully pissed myself

Monday morning bright and early, packed bags, loaded up the bikes, stood around waiting for Reefer and Graham and eventually

was woken by bikes revving as the others were packed and ready to go, reefer who had been up for hours kindly woke me by tapping gently on my hotel door

Tuesday afternoon – hot, stressed and finally deciding to make my way home on my own, after having a row with AA cos they wouldn’t reinstate breakdown cover

reads..spent most of the day taking in the sites, canning the drinks machine, taking photos that were unuseable and canning reefers phone with calls to the UK :bigshock)

Loved the writeup LJ...

Glad you enjoyed it...

Jan & I have been abroad 3 times now (always on our own up untill this year)

We treat it as an adventure, and never know where we will end up or what will happen...

2 years ago, we had a rear tyre blow out at 90mph in roadworks fully loaded :D Jan didnt even notice untill I stopped on the hard shoulder :roll)

Taking Stealth & Dawn over this year (they are newbies too...) really looking forward to it.

Maybe you can join us in Germany one fine day.

Best to ya,

Rolfy
