Where do you get your stainless fasteners from?
Just looking around as I havent bought any for some years and by the fekk they are expensive.

So, where's best deal to be had, anyone?

As the weather will be improving soon, there should be a few car boot sales around. Have a rummage through all the "bargains", I'm sure something will turn up that'll suit your budget.

Hi Murph, I took a couple of my old fasteners/nuts & bolts I needed to replace, to my local ironmongers/hardware store. They managed to supply me with some stainless,(including stainless washers), that were almost identical to my original mild steels, that had corroded. And, they were only a few pence each. Spent about £1.50 for eight pieces (and they gave me the washers for nothing) Bargain ! So, why not try your local ironmongers ?(especially for basic nuts `n bolts). Regards, Sircular.

Trouble is you'll probably have to buy a bag of 50 and having some left over won't sit well with Mr tightwad. He's so tight, he could peel an orange in his pocket.

Set screws and bolts in packs of 10, nuts and washers thats different.

Hmmmmm. Used Probolt for some stuff in past ...good but expensive .
Tried someone off e-bay once for disc bolts-a regular seller. However one of disc bolts sheared whilst fitting to a newly powder coated wheel that had the holes blocked before painting AND a tap running down all the threads prior to bolting up. Managed to extract broken stud without any paint damage and needless to say, the other new bolts weren't used.

Had a look at Custom Fasteners website but the site is as much use as the BBC weather forecast site. Might be worth calling in at their place in Newtown when t'weather's got a bit better

Williams Fasteners in Sheffield used to be brilliant. Take whatever you wanted replacing to the counter "Can I 'av 10 o' them, 3 of those, 14 of them, onerrthose" "orreet owd dook, gimme 10 minutes" and off she'd shuffle coming back 20 minutes later with everything asked for plus extra 20% of everything!

Nowadays you gotta buy summink like 50 minimum. Anyrode, might give that another try.

Found some new black stuff while down that way recently..


Probolt as you know has always been my preference...all my nuts and bolts replaced but with tvatanium
