During my recent adventure into the 2001 FI wiring loom, I read a post from someone who had asked where all the wires go to - but I couldn't see an answer on the forum. After fixing something which wasn't actually broken, I decided to ensure that everything was back in order following my 'repair'.
In the FI Model, there are 10 green wires which come together inside a yellow connector in the wiring loom. For the purpose of clarification, I have numbered the terminals looking into the back (where the wires enter) of the 14-pole connector as follows:

Ignore 8, 9, 10, 11 as these are empty positions.
1 = Frame Earth Ring (4-pole)
2 = Grey Plug (6-pole) under petrol tank (Fan control Relay / Tail/Brake Lights / Indicators)
3 = Blue Plug (20-pole) - main harness connector to front of bike (Dashboard / Headlights / Indicators etc)
4 = Brown Plug (2-pole) underneath Petrol Tank Connector (Fuel Level Sensor)
5 = Black Plug (9-pole) front of bike (Clutch Switch / Horn / HiLo Beam Switch etc)
6 = Green Plug (2-pole) rear of engine inside Black sleeve (Side Stand Switch)
7 = ECM (22-pole) Black Connector
12 = Regulator / Rectifier
13 = Regulator / Rectifier
14 = ECM (22-pole) Grey Connector - note that this connection is a screen wire which covers a thicker Blue wire which runs along the harness to the ECM. At the ECM connector, there is a bit of black PVC tape which if you peel it back, you have access to the bare screen wire to do a continuity test to earth.
If you don't want to do the loom fix (or after you have done the loom fix), and you want to check the earth circuit for this yellow block of death, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, use a DMM set to the Ohms or Diode range, then check each of the above connections to ensure continuity between the end of the wire and earth. If they all show short circuit to earth, then at least you have either made good your connections, or there's nothing too wrong with them anyway
