Well what can I say about this holiday apart from it had it all. Spa was fantastic even tho the weather was patchy all weekend. The parade laps around the
old and new circuit were fabulous. Nothing to do with going fast AJ in fact totally opposite, its was all about taking part and actually doing it, the nostalgia and
historic presence of the place was amazing, all the marshals and people lining the closed roads of the old and new circuit, especially for us, waving and cheering made you feel Barry Sheene royalty and I had a massive lump in my throat and a tear in my eye all the way round. The police closed the roads of the old circuit from where it used to join and where it rejoined at the other side, The video dosent do it justice as to how many people were there, if you have been to Assen and witnessed the local people lining the streets and roads waving you off then times that feeling by 20 and you will be close. Ive done a lot of laps around a fair few circuits in the uk and a fair few laps around the IOM TT course as well and non of them have ever made me feel like that, I will remember that buzz for the rest of my life...
Not forgetting the the racing as well, it was fantastic also, as some of you know Im a big fan of the classic meetings and this meet is up there with the best. The event was called The Bikers Classic Spa francorchamps and a classic it most certainly was... 65 bikes on the starting grid for the GP main event and the roar from them when the flag dropped could be heard for miles and it shook the concrete off the grandstand walls ...
The famous eau rouge corner makes Cadwells mountain look positively flat and pictures do not do it justice ...
more laters as Ive no time , heres a pic were you can see the old circuit road as well ... dream on
